James Bond

In 1962, Dr No, starring that hunk Sean Connery as British agent 007, started a James Bond craze that captivated cinema audiences around the world. The 24 films have reaped a box-office income of more than US$11 billion. Pigging out on the whole collection in one go might be overkill, but watching the super spy evolve over 53 years — with actors such as Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan playing Bond — is fascinating. The latest Bond film, Spectre, starring Daniel Craig, is due out soon. One wonders what author Ian Fleming would have made of his hero’s longevity.
