To­day, Sarah Barns and Michael Kil­lalea will dis­cuss their in­stal­la­tion Ar­rivals and De­par­tures (pic­tured), a se­ries of brightly coloured ship­ping con­tain­ers each con­tain­ing a mini-gallery that tells the story of Syd­ney’s mar­itime history. On Oc­to­ber 25, the talk se­ries will con­tinue with an ex­plo­ration by Anne Davies and The Aus­tralian’s He­len Trinca (au­thors of Wa­ter­front, The Bat­tle that Changed Aus­tralia) of the history of the mar­itime work­ers’ move­ment at the for­mer docks. Michelle His­cock The most re­cent land­scape se­ries from pain­ter Michelle His­cock de­picts evoca­tive nat­u­ral scenes in a col­lec­tion of oil paint­ings and wa­ter­colours, cre­ated af­ter sev­eral years of draw­ing and paint­ing from life. His­cock is known for her mas­tery of land­scapes ren­dered in oil, which are of­ten small scale, and for her art mas­ter­classes at the Art Gallery of NSW and the Na­tional Art School in Syd­ney.
