Oprah Winfrey is back with a new seven-part documentary series in which she travels the world exploring different religions and the meaning of life. In The Seekers, episode one, she meets Cha Cha, 19, who’s lost her faith; Reshma Thakkar, an Indian-American Hindu from Chicago who joins the world’s largest spiritual gathering in India; Mendel Hurwitz, 13, who’s preparing for his bar mitzvah in Budapest; and Terry Gandadila, an Australian Aboriginal elder who, as death approaches, wants to share knowledge of his tribe with his grandson. Winfrey doesn’t have quite the same clout she had as a daily talk show host, but she knows how to tell a story.
