Don’t Tell My Mother
French journalist Diego Bunuel hosts this series in which he visits the sort of risky places that would stress his mother out — if she knew. In Antarctica, episode two from season five, he departs Cape Town, South Africa, to spend 28 days on the 2000m-thick ice sheet that covers Antarctica. It’s summer and he has 28 days to check out what scientists stationed there are up to and to explore the world’s largest, and windiest, desert. If Antarctica melted, he learns, sea levels around the world would rise 55m.
