As is cus­tom­ary at this time of year I listed a couple of weeks back my albums of the year from Aus­tralia and over­seas. My top pick from OS was Ryan Adams’s imag­i­na­tive, well-crafted take on Tay­lor Swift’s 1989. It’s an al­bum that stands up by it­self, but points must be given to the revered Amer­i­can trou­ba­dour for even con­sid­er­ing hav­ing a stab at such a global pop phe­nom­e­non. As it turns out, how­ever, this is not the first time Adams has turned his hand to in­ter­pret­ing some­one else’s al­bum.
