The Weekend Australian - Review - - Out & About - David Stratton

Hail, Caesar! (PG) The new Coen brothers movie is set in Hollywood in the early 1950s and stars Josh Brolin as the fixer for a big Hollywood studio who is kept busy solving any number of problems including wayward starlets, unmarried pregnant actresses, a cowboy star called on to act in a romantic melodrama, and the kidnapping of the lead actor of the studio’s latest religious epic. The latter role is played by George Clooney, and there’s a tasty supporting cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum (singing and dancing), two Tilda Swintons and Ralph Fiennes as a pompous director. Despite all this, the film is a minor effort from the talented Coens.
