The Idea of North ARIA award-winning a cappella ensemble the Idea of North is touring nationally in support of its 13th album, Ballads. Founded in Canberra in 1993, the group comprises Sally Cameron (soprano), Naomi Crellin (alto), Nick Begbie (tenor) and Andrew Piper (bass). Ballads features reinventions of songs by artists such as Sting, Cold Chisel, Sarah McLachlan and the Bee Gees. Collaborations on the album include Australian jazz singer Kristin Berardi leading on her own composition Ode to Oli and Kaichiro Kitamura, Japanese vocal percussionist.
