Tosca Director Stuart Maunder has highlighted themes of defiance, sacrifice and betrayal in the plot of Puccini’s Tosca. The confronting choices of honour or betrayal are presented to each of the three leading characters. This traditional production from New Zealand Opera comes to the Sydney Opera House with gorgeous set designs by Jan Ubels, costumes by Elizabeth Whiting and captivating lighting by Jason Morphett. Tosca is sung in Italian with English surtitles, with a dramatic score that features the choral Te Deum and famous arias Vissi d’arte and E lucevan le stelle.
