Tosca Di­rec­tor Stu­art Maun­der has high­lighted themes of de­fi­ance, sac­ri­fice and be­trayal in the plot of Puc­cini’s Tosca. The con­fronting choices of hon­our or be­trayal are pre­sented to each of the three lead­ing char­ac­ters. This tra­di­tional pro­duc­tion from New Zealand Opera comes to the Syd­ney Opera House with gor­geous set de­signs by Jan Ubels, cos­tumes by El­iz­a­beth Whit­ing and cap­ti­vat­ing light­ing by Ja­son Mor­phett. Tosca is sung in Ital­ian with English sur­titles, with a dra­matic score that fea­tures the cho­ral Te Deum and fa­mous arias Vissi d’arte and E luce­van le stelle.
