Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) has been the surprise package this season, as he turns inexorably to the dark side. Poor old Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) has been scraping the bottom of the dignity barrel. Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) has followed a pretty typical arc.
Given this season has aired a month later than in the US, if you have managed to avoid online plot spoilers for this finale episode you have done very well indeed. Suffice it to say, a beloved character dies in the finale. (But fear not, showrunner Alex Gansa recently confirmed that the return of Damien Lewis as Nicholas Brody was “always a possibility”. So there.)
This is the first season where US audiences dipped below one million for an episode. Nonetheless, it has been renewed for a seventh and eighth (and likely final) season. Sunday, 10.30pm, Ten.
