Pick of the week theatre
Australian Graffiti The debut full-length play by Disapol Savetsila — Sydney Theatre Company’s youngest commissioned playwright for a main-stage season — is the humorous and touching Australian Graffiti. Describing it as “magical realism”, Savetsila says the play depicts a family of Thai restaurateurs who migrate to a mysterious inland town. The topic of Australian Graffiti is timely, exploring the migrant experience and challenges of assimilation. With STC newcomer Mason Phoumirath (pictured). Sydney Theatre Company, Wharf II Theatre, 4 Hickson Road. Tonight, 7.30pm. Tickets: $32$35. Bookings: (02) 9250 1777 or online. Until August 12.
