ex­hi­bi­tion — based on the Phan­tom comics — comes The Phan­tom Show. More than 50 artists, most of them Aus­tralian, will have their in­ter­pre­ta­tions of the comic strip su­per­hero dis­played along­side a range of Phan­tom mem­o­ra­bilia and ephemera — in­clud­ing a hand- Thais So­prano Ni­cole Car sings the role of the disil­lu­sioned cour­te­san, with a voice ca­pa­ble of turn­ing a monk’s (bari­tone Eti­enne Dupuis) at­ten­tion from chaste dis­re­gard to ir­re­press­ible de­sire. The Opera Aus­tralia Orches­tra will play the pow­er­ful score of Massenet in a mu­si­cal ex­plo­ration of the ways sa­cred faith and hu­man pas­sion in­ter­sect, in har­monies that blend the ex­otic and erotic.
