Sea Garden The whimsical series of oil paintings by Judith Van Heeren in Sea Garden depict a conflicted nexus between the natural world’s captivating magic and fragility, with particular reference to the Great Barrier Reef. Velvety landscapes are populated with sea gardens brimming with jewel-like organisms, yet they give way to white, bleak horizons — a timely reminder of the Great Barrier Reef’s mortality, fuelled by coral bleaching and pollution.
