An­other sad day this week with the death of singer Glen Camp­bell, an artist I was for­tu­nate enough to meet and in­ter­view when he came to Aus­tralia 20 years ago. His pass­ing brought to mind that oc­ca­sion in Sydney, when I recorded his words on a mini-cas­sette player. It was one of those in­ter­views that sur­passed ex­pec­ta­tions, not just be­cause of his colour­ful and en­ter­tain­ing an­swers to more than a hand­ful of ques­tions, but also his friend­li­ness and, to top it off, the sev­eral songs he per­formed, ac­com­pa­ny­ing him­self on an acous­tic gui­tar.
