VICKI Archer is the author ofMy FrenchLife (Penguin, $49.95), an illustrated memoir about restoring a farmhouse and establishing an olive farm in Provence. Australian-born Archer now lives in London and SaintRemy de Provence, and visits Australia at least once a year. In 2006 she travelled to Morocco, Spain, Greece and the US. www.vickiarcher.com. MUSEE RODIN, PARIS The gardens of this museum are filled with large sculptures and make the perfect backdrop for the Hotel Biron, home to the permanent collection. I especially love the delicacy of TheKiss . www.musee-rodin.fr. SAINT-OUEN MARKETS, PARIS Marche Paul Bert and Marche Serpette are part of the antique markets of SaintOuen in Paris. These two markets are by far the easiest to explore and over the years I have found my favourite home belongings here. The pleasure is really in the search in this French Aladdin’s cave. 18 rue Paul Bert and 110 rue des Rosiers. Metro: Porte de Clignancourt. CHATEAU DE BAGNOLS, FRANCE Set high on a hilltop outside Lyon with outstanding views of the vineyards beyond, this moated castle is one of my favourite places to stay. The exacting restoration of the property, sublime comfort and delicious food and wine make stopping here a treat. www.bagnols.com. LE BISTRO D’EYGALIERES, FRANCE Le Bistro d’Eygalieres is on the rue de la Republique in the picturesque village of Eygalieres. Chez Bru (as it is known) has recently received a second Michelin star. The setting alone is worth a visit, not to mention Wout Bru’s exquisite cooking. www.chezbru.com. THE PARTHENON, ATHENS I went to Athens this year for the first time and realised a childhood dream to climb the Acropolis and see the Parthenon. It did not disappoint. www.parthenontemple.com. SAINT-REMY DE PROVENCE, FRANCE I love nothing more than an evening walk with my husband, David, around our farm in Saint-Remy de Provence. We have planted an olive grove of 3000 trees and I love to wander among them and speculate on the future crop. www.saintremy-de-provence.com. Sharon Fowler
