ACCESS ALL AREAS

The Weekend Australian - Travel - - Travel & Indulgence -

I enjoy spending time with family and friends on our boat on the Hawkesbury River just north of Sydney, with a bucket of fresh prawns and a crisp sauvignon blanc. I also visit Yamba on the NSW north coast once a year with four families: lots of children, laughter, great surfing and quality time. www.visitnsw.com.au; www.yambansw.com.au. I ALWAYS PACK If going overseas or for extended periods away, I always travel with a small picture album of family and lots of Dermalogica face cream. When travelling with family, it’s swimmers, towels, surfboards and sarongs. www.dermalogica.com. Sharon Fowler SARINA Bratton is a former awardwinning athlete and founder and managing director of Orion Expedition Cruises, an Australian-based five-star line that operates cruises to the Kimberley, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, the Great Barrier Reef and Antarctica. In 2006 Bratton was awarded the Veuve Clicquot Award for women achievers in business and industry. She travels frequently for work and last year visited most of the Orion cruise destinations as well as the US. www.orioncruises.com.au. MUNUPI ARTS & CRAFTS ASSOCIATION, MELVILLE ISLANDS While doing a scouting trip for Orion’s inaugural Tiwi Islands and East Timor itineraries, I bought a beautiful piece of indigenous artwork here. The Tiwi Islanders use vibrant colours, reflecting their coexistence with the sea. www.tiwiart.com. MOMO INTERIORS, CASTLECRAG, SYDNEY I amtoo busy to scout around for personal household ideas so Momo Interiors is a favourite. It’s less about the product and more about the advice given. 79 Edinburgh Rd, Castlecrag; (02) 9958 6672. FIFTH AVENUE, NEW YORK Window shopping on Fifth Avenue is a treat. Because life in Sydney (family, business, community) is so hectic, I rarely get time for personal shopping. I love the vibrancy of New York and the late trading hours provide an opportunity to browse and spoil myself. While my budget doesn’t always stretch to the high-end products of Fifth Avenue, I often find gems in some of the small streets off Seventh Avenue in the garment district. www.nyctourist.com; www.nycvisit.com. HOTEL SEZZ, PARIS I had a wonderful stay here, beside the Seine. It is a 26-room art deco hotel that’s very hip and features La Grande Dame champagne bar. www.hotelsezz.com. THE BATHERS’ PAVILION, BALMORAL BEACH, SYDNEY I can’t go past Bathers’ Pavilion for its location on the beach, the cafe for casual lunches or coffee and the restaurant for exquisite cuisine at night. www.batherspavilion.com.au. THE KIMBERLEY, WESTERN AUSTRALIA I love this vast, beautiful land of ours. The Kimberley region of Australia’s northwest is often described by Orion’s passengers as life-changing. It is sometimes hard to believe a place such as this exists: the beauty and the grandeur are breathtaking, while the spiritual essence emanating from this pristine wilderness area is so powerful. www.westernaustralia.com.
