In all states except WA, legislation requires drivers to notify the licensing authority of any medical condition that could affect their ability to drive safely.

More than 90 per cent of doctors say their patients aren’t aware of this responsibility.

In SA and NT, doctors are legally obliged to report risky drivers.

In other states, doctors follow guidelines that recommend they report drivers they think are medically impaired.

But research suggests the guidelines aren’t being followed.
