Be greener, say staff

The Weekend Australian - Travel - - Career One -

AUSTRALIAN companies are not adequately green-minded, if their staff perception is anything to go by says a RedBalloon Greener Workplace Study, compiled after a survey of 1788 employees.

About 90 employers of those surveyed have a recycling scheme and more than half have energy saving devices. But employees believe a lot more could be done.

‘‘ This doesn’t mean businesses need to invest in radical changes,’’ says Naomi Simson, founder of RedBalloon. ‘‘ Small changes, such as recycling bins at desks and encouraging employees to turn off their computer after hours, all contribute to a greener Australia.’’
