Taronga Zoo’s arachnophobia treatment course claims a 100 per cent success rate for those attending the 10 most recent courses.

The program claims a 98 per cent success rate since it began just over two years ago.

It is based on London Zoo’s Friendly Spider Program.

The youngest person to attend the Fearless at Taronga course was an eightyear-old girl.

Researchers at the University of Zurich found that treating arachnophobes with the stress hormone cortisol reduced their phobia by half within two weeks. Cortisol also significantly reduced social phobia. This could lead to a pill for the treatment of phobias.
