TRAINING is the answer to retaining staff and employers must invest more in skills enhancement of their staff, consultancy firm Paragon Associates co-director Lisa Butler says.

‘‘ Providing training and career development is key to keeping staff who are ambitious and eager to excel in their role,’’ she says. ‘‘ A day out of the workforce for a training session is a small sacrifice for what is a growing financial burden for Australian business owners.’’

Well-trained staff are crucial to retaining customer loyalty as well, Butler says. ‘‘ Staff morale plays an important role in building client relationships with customers and clients when companies are experiencing high turnover.’’
