THE latest selfcontained accommodation on Bruny Island has just been opened by regular Travel&Indulgence contributor Chris Viney. He describes Bruny Islander Weekender, at Dennes Point on the island’s north, as ‘‘ cool, classy and comfortable’’. The contemporary residence, designed by Hobart architect Maria Gigney, comprises dual Tasmanian oak-clad pavilions joined by a large private deck, with outdoor shower and bath on wheels; there are two bedrooms (queen-sized and twin).

Viney says the house is close to sheltered and safe Nebraska Beach and has ‘‘ elevated views of the Wellington Range and the D’Entrecastreax Channel and all-day sun’’. Special opening rate, valid to January 31, is $200 a night for full rental (maximum four guests), with a minimum two-night stay. The website contains full details of what’s provided, getting there and things to see and do in the vicinity. More: www.brunyislandweekender.com.
