DETECTIVE has long been obsessed with the Haigh’s Maltichoc, a more decadent version of the Malteser (which is itself no slouch in the sweets stakes). But in recent months the Maltichoc has been absent from the Adelaide-based chocolatier’s stores. Inquiries by an increasingly desperate Detective have resulted in explanations from staff ranging from ‘‘we can no longer get the ingredients from the supplier’’ to ‘‘we can’t find a centre the chocolate will stick to’’. She hopes they sort out their supply issues soon; the permanent loss of one of her favourite chocky treats doesn’t bear thinking about.
