THE River and Rowing Museum at Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire is a short walk from the town centre, at Mill Meadows. The collection features sections devoted to the River Thames, the sport of rowing and the history of Henley-on-Thames. An array of material covers the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race, international and Olympics rowing events and coaching techniques. Henley-on-Thames is packed with pretty shops, cafes and charming laneways and, while very popular in summer, is worth a visit yearround. Open daily; about $12 entry for adults. More: rrm.co.uk.
