THE Great Ocean Walk in Victoria has been organised by local authorities into manageable, signposted chunks for rambles of varying lengths. The Wreck Beach walk near Princetown, a round trip of only 2km (about 90 minutes), descends 350 steps to the beach, past rusting anchors of the Marie Gabrielle and the Fiji. The 5.5km Princetown Recreation Reserve to Glenample daytrip (about five hours) crosses clifftops and coastal heathland while offering views of the 12 Apostles. Sightings of kangaroos or pods of dolphins are possible. Both walks are signed and, naturally, are free. More: visitvictoria.com.
