WHENit comes to Spain, Australia’s Tony Tan could give Rick Stein ( Global Gourmet) a run for his money in the inside-knowledge stakes. Tan is gearing up for his next gastronomic tour, with highlights including dinners at several of Spain’s Michelinstarred restaurants, trips to secret markets and bodegas, visits to private haciendas, cooking classes and more, over 13 food-filled days from October 12. ‘‘The tour is designed purely for the foodie with a sense of adventure and who loves the good things in life,’’ says Tan. ‘‘It seeks to encapsulate Spain on a plate and we will meet some culinary icons in their homes; for example my friend Teresa Barrenechea, author of the cookbooks The Cuisines of Spain and The Basque Table, will have us at her hacienda for drinks and tapas.’’ There are still places available on Tan’s 2011 Gourmet Tour of Spain, at $8830 twin-share, but be quick.
