ARMCHAIR TRAV­ELLER Gareth Malone Goes to Glyn­de­bourne: Bri­tish broad­caster and choir mas­ter Gareth Malone takes on the task of coach­ing artists for a youth opera to be performed at Glyn­de­bourne in early 2010; in this third episode, it’s last­minute work­shops and re­hearsals, tears and tri­umphs. Sunday, 7.30pm, ABC 2. HOTRocks at the Pool Grill is a fun al­ter­na­tive to in­door din­ing on Sil­ver Spirit. Ta­bles are set un­der the stars on deck 10 and pas­sen­gers roll up their sleeves to siz­zle their or­ders (beef, lamb, pork, chicken, seafood) on white-hot stones. Bibs are pro­vided and it’s in­ter­ac­tive fun, with waiters on hand if things get smoky. A starter, sal­ads and down-home desserts such as ap­ple pie are also served. Per­fect for an evening when you don’t want to dress up, or your cum­mer­bund or corset is too tight after a cho­co­late-themed af­ter­noon tea. There’s no ad­di­tional charge and ta­ble wines are in­cluded. Gourmet Farmer: It’s se­ries two and for­mer Syd­ney food critic Matthew Evans is re­ally mak­ing a go of things on his Tas­ma­nian spread in this Oz ver­sion of River Cot­tage; but a gourmet farmer’s work is never done, as there are more pigs to farm and porky prod­ucts to sell.
