ARMCHAIR TRAVELLER Gareth Malone Goes to Glyndebourne: British broadcaster and choir master Gareth Malone takes on the task of coaching artists for a youth opera to be performed at Glyndebourne in early 2010; in this third episode, it’s lastminute workshops and rehearsals, tears and triumphs. Sunday, 7.30pm, ABC 2. HOTRocks at the Pool Grill is a fun alternative to indoor dining on Silver Spirit. Tables are set under the stars on deck 10 and passengers roll up their sleeves to sizzle their orders (beef, lamb, pork, chicken, seafood) on white-hot stones. Bibs are provided and it’s interactive fun, with waiters on hand if things get smoky. A starter, salads and down-home desserts such as apple pie are also served. Perfect for an evening when you don’t want to dress up, or your cummerbund or corset is too tight after a chocolate-themed afternoon tea. There’s no additional charge and table wines are included. Gourmet Farmer: It’s series two and former Sydney food critic Matthew Evans is really making a go of things on his Tasmanian spread in this Oz version of River Cottage; but a gourmet farmer’s work is never done, as there are more pigs to farm and porky products to sell. Thursday, 7.30pm, SBS One.
