UMAUbud, a mem­ber of the CO­MO­Ho­tels and Re­sorts col­lec­tion and one of Bali’s most stylish and af­ford­able hide­aways, has a new street-side Ital­ian-in­spired restau­rant, Uma Cucina, and chic lounge bar open daily for lunch and din­ner. Chef Ni­co­las Laz­za­roni’s menu is strong on lo­cal pro­duce and house spe­cial­ties in­clude hand-made pas­tas, wood-fired piz­zas and bread, and re­fresh­ing ge­lato and granita. Bar staff have been trained by COMO’s mixol­o­gists at the Met Bar in Lon­don and lat­est con­coc­tions in­clude an Uma Cucina ne­groni and a pan­danus fizz, com­bin­ing pan­dan ex­tracts and co­conut cream, Tan­queray gin, fresh le­mon and egg white. Seven­teen gue­strooms also have been added to this well-lo­cated re­treat on the edge of the hill sta­tion of Ubud. Tak­ing the to­tal room count to 46, there are an ad­di­tional four Ubud Rooms (from $US270), four Pool Suites with pri­vate plunge pools and sun­decks (from $US320), and five top-of-the-range Pool Vil­las with larger pools (from $US470).
