UPSCALE Beverly Hills in Los Angeles will be going all out next year to celebrate its 100th birthday as a designated city. Five of the star-studded precinct’s most luxurious hotels have commissioned designers to redecorate a suite in a style to ‘‘transport guests back to moments in time from the past 100 years and showcase the legendary style of one of the world’s most glamorous cities’’. Hotels in the Suite 100 centennial initiative are:

(‘‘The Golden Age Inspired by Marilyn Monroe’’);

(‘‘Stylish, Sophisticated 60s: A Reimagined Revolution’’);

(‘‘The Era of Studio 54: Fashion and Art Collide’’) and

(‘‘The Birth of Modern Luxury’’). A rendering of the design for the Monroe-inspired suite at The Beverly Hills Hotel & Bungalows (pictured) shows its Polo Lounge ambience and iconic pink-and-green colour scheme. Monroe stayed frequently at this hotel, which marked its centenary last year. Described as ‘‘quintessentially Californian’’, the revamped suite decor will feature black lacquer finishes, tropical prints, shag carpets and a bar made from sycamore ‘‘that speaks to the era’s modernist influence’’.
