IN July, Sin­ga­porean hote­lier Loh Lik Peng will un­veil a bou­tique ho­tel and suite of restau­rants, helmed by star chefs such as Lon­don’s Ja­son Ather­ton, within the old Clare Ho­tel and Carl­ton United Brew­ery build­ing in Syd­ney’s in­ner-west Chip­pen­dale; the new-look ho­tel will fea­ture 62 gue­strooms, a rooftop bar and pool • Per Aquum’s Niyama re­sort has opened a sec­ond is­land devel­op­ment in the Mal­dives; con­nected to the “Chill” islet by a bridge, the new “Play” fea­tures 48 vil­las, a tree­top restau­rant and a ded­i­cated chil­dren’s club for tod­dlers un­der three; book by March 31 (for stays to De­cem­ber 23) and re­ceive a 30 per cent dis­count plus a slew of gratis en­tice­ments • Taj Ho­tels & Re­sorts opens a new 296room ho­tel in Dubai next month af­ford­ing dress-cir­cle views of Burj Khal­ifa and its danc­ing foun­tains; fa­cil­i­ties will in­clude four restau­rants, a Jiva day spa, out­door pool with city views and Taj’s sig­na­ture but­ler ser­vice • The up­scale One & Only group is plan­ning two new re­sorts on the Pa­cific Coast of Mex­ico: a beach­front prop­erty in Rive­ria Na­yarit fea­tur­ing clifftop and tree house vil­las; and an “au­then­tic” ha­cienda devel­op­ment with 75 pool vil­las com­mand­ing an 8km stretch of beach • Swis­so­tel the Bospho­rus, Istanbul, has un­veiled 198 newly ren­o­vated gue­strooms in stage one of a larger re­fur­bish­ment that will in­clude a new-look rooftop pool, ad­di­tional restau­rant and seven loft suites.
