Queens­land’s well-known Sher­a­ton Mi­rage Port Dou­glas Re­sort has com­pleted phase one of a $40 mil­lion ren­o­va­tion un­veil­ing 146 newlook guest cham­bers, in­clud­ing swim out-rooms and suites.

Sprawl­ing across a 147ha es­tate that in­cludes an 18-hole golf course and 2ha of swim­ming la­goons, the re­sort claims an idyl­lic po­si­tion on North Queens­land’s Four Mile Beach. When opened by Christo­pher Skase in the late 1980s, it put the sleepy town of Port Dou­glas on the in­ter­na­tional map. The Mi­rage quickly be­came the go-to trop­i­cal bolt­hole for world lead­ers, movie stars and mu­si­cians.
