Wild Coast Tented Lodge, a new de­vel­op­ment by the Dilmah Tea fam­ily and the Re­s­plen­dent Cey­lon ho­tel port­fo­lio, opens next Oc­to­ber be­side a beach on the edge of Yala Na­tional Park in south­east Sri Lanka. Twen­tyeight tented “co­coon suites” will of­fer jun­gle views from dou­ble-height glass fa­cades and fea­ture a khaki-toned, sa­fari-chic decor of four-poster beds, teak floors and can­vas walls. An ad­di­tional four se­cluded beach-fac­ing suites come with pri­vate plunge pools, while a fur­ther 16 ac­com­mo­da­tion op­tions are clus­tered around wa­ter holes that at­tract lo­cal wildlife. Add nat­u­ral­ist-led ex­cur­sions by 4WDs into the na­tional park to spot birds ga­lore, ele­phants, sloth bears and per­haps an elu­sive leop­ard.
