The Weekend Australian - Travel - - DESTINATION AFLOAT -

Accommodation has been moving steadily up-market across the two islands. Hodges Bay is due to open on the north coast of Antigua this year, featuring beachfront penthouses, villas and suites; hodgesbay.com. On Barbuda, Robert De Niro is the face of the lavish reconstruction of K-Club, beloved by Princess Diana, after whom the beach on which it sits is named. The project will include 50 villas and cottages, each with a private pool, six overwater villas, a superyacht marina, and an airport for private jets and helicopters. The opening last June of Barbuda Belle has already put Antigua’s tiny sister island back on the luxury map. Five one and one two-bedroom wooden beach bungalows on stilts, and a clubhouse with a bar and French seafood restaurant sit on an isolated beach on the north coast, only accessible by sea; barbudabelle.com. Tucked away from the busy main drag at Falmouth Harbour, the 23-suite South Point offers serene views of this lovely bay and its moored superyachts; southpointantigua.com. This year’s Antigua Sailing Week takes place from April 29 to May 5. More: sailingweek.com. • aycmarinaresort.com • visitantiguabarbuda.com
