On April 17, the start of this year’s season, the Belmond Royal Scotsman train will be taking the art of rail travel up a notch with the introduction of a spa carriage featuring two single treatment salons. British wellness brand Bamford has designed bespoke therapies for Belmond passengers travelling on journeys in Scotland and Britain and the company’s geranium, lavender and peppermint botanical collection will also feature as the in-cabin toiletries range on board. The notion of a facial, massage or hand-and-feet treatments seems an incredibly decadent treat in the dedicated Bamford Haybarn Spa carriage, which has been kitted out with sustainable timbers from Scotland and the Cotswolds. The luxury train offers itineraries from two to seven nights, departing from Edinburgh for the highlands and beyond, with longer options featuring stops to visit whisky distilleries, heritage gardens, wildlife reserves, castles and historic houses. The full-week journey also includes England and Wales with signature experiences such as dinner at Raymond Blanc’s Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons at Great Milton near Oxford, also a member of the Belmond portfolio and holder of two Michelin stars.
