CHECK IT OUT MR AND MRS WHITE NEW STYLE HOTEL, PAROS, GREECE
White on white is the theme at this newly opened hotel tucked away on the edge of a small fishing village on the Greek island of Paros, where a cool, contemporary kit-out is enhanced by romantic views from private balconies and patios.
A kilometre from the beach and a short walk from the centre of Naoussa, where traditional whitewashed houses contrast with a surreal blue sky and bright magenta bougainvillea, the charmingly named Mr and Mrs White New Style Hotel has joined Small Luxury Hotels of the World following its debut on June 1.
The hotel features two swimming pools and plenty of sunbeds and is an easy walk to the beach for a quick dip in the sparkling Aegean.
The 48 guestrooms keep it simple but smart with white marble floors, stylised driftwood bedheads, white beams, floaty drapes and the occasional thoughtfully placed basket or low hanging rattan light-shade.
Each guestroom has a balcony or private garden with views of the pools and plantings or across Naoussa and comes with flat-screen television, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi access and a minibar that can be customised on request.
Twice-daily maid service keeps those allwhite interiors neat.
Deluxe rooms feature sea views and the twostorey residence is perfect for families.
Paros is accessible via ferry from Aegean islands or by air from Athens and Thessaloniki.
DON’T MISS: A drink under the stars in the hotel’s groovy shisha bar. DINING IN: Executive chef George Iakovidis dishes up quality Greek and Mediterranean fare in the hotel’s main restaurant; think salads, mezze and a great moussaka. Greek-style snacks are served by the pool, and there’s a sushi bar. Room service is another option.
DINING OUT: Fish restaurants are clustered around Naoussa’s charming 15th-century Venetian port, just minutes on foot from the hotel. Run by the same family since 1963, Barbarossa Fish & Restaurant Bar is very popular; grab a table on the terrace and tuck into local seafood and wine. BlueFish on the marina also comes highly recommended.
ASK THE CONCIERGE: Paros has a coastline 120km long with many lovely beaches. Don’t miss the magical Kolimbithres with its series of small sandy coves, the cosmopolitan Santa Maria and the pretty fishing village of Ambelas. A day trip to Antiparos Island is a must.
CHECKING IN: From €288 ($424) including breakfast and welcome drink. More: slh.com/white.
