Out to pasture
High-profile NSW pastoral couple Steve and Liz Phillips paid $11.75m for the 1678ha Woodlea Park near Yass at an online auction managed by rural agent Chris Meares, of Meares & Associates. The Phillips family also control the Yarrawonga Stud, one of the six properties they operate across NSW. Investor Margaret Doyle, who divides her time between Canberra and the US state of Montana, was the reluctant seller of Woodlea Park which had been in her family for 60 years. Purchased by her father in 1959, Woodlea Park, near Yass, produces high-quality beef and prime lamb. Meares said the online auction attracted 80 inquiries, 22 inspections and 10 registered bidders.
“It was a well managed property in a very good area.”
