grand views and privacy
Escape to the cool Atherton Tableland this Easter for a luxury getaway to the award-winning Grandview Country Retreat. In the heart of the waterfalls and lakes district, Grandview is reached by a leisurely drive from Cairns through rainforest and across rolling hills.
Once there you can unwind in a choice of self-contained accommodation, whether you arrive as part of a couple, family or a group of friends.
Grandview owner Louise Knol says the three self-contained, individually themed suites have been positioned for maximum privacy.
“Our guests can relax on their private decks and enjoy the five acres of gardens and beautiful views of the area,” Louise says.
Winner of the Tropical North Queensland Hosted Accommodation award in 2006 and 2007, Grandview offers a wide range of facilities to tempt the guest who simply wishes to stay put on the property for their entire stay.
Relax in the heated hydrotherapy spa, sweat it out in the sauna, enjoy a game of pool or billiards or try something a little more energetic such as tennis or mountain bike riding.
“Or you can simply ‘veg out’ in the garden with a good book,” Louise says.
Lots of little touches abound in the form of fluffy bath robes, personal toiletries and local hand-made soaps, port and chocolates and a TV/DVD with free movies.
The daily country breakfast hamper features Atherton Tableland produce, ground coffee and leaf tea.
For lunch and dinner bring your own supplies and use the fully equipped kitchen and electric barbecue to whip up a meal, before chatting with your hosts at the licensed Ice-O-Bar.
But if it is the Hinterland you have come to see you are in luck as the property is located within 20 minutes’ drive of the area’s major attractions.
These include the waterfalls at Millaa Millaa and Malanda.
