enjoy nature in comfort

Cape Tribulation is the only place on earth where two World Heritage-listed environments are alongside each other. On one side there is the tropical world of the Daintree rainforest and on the other, the sparkling Great Barrier Reef.

Perfectly placed to encapsulate the two is the fourstar Cape Tribulation Resort and Spa which combines the wonder of the natural world with the comfort of the modern. Ocean Hotel’s flagship destination is an easy drive north of Cairns and Port Douglas, making it an ideal Easter getaway. Or you can stay for much, much longer.

Sales and marketing manager Michelle Behsman says the resort is perfectly located on the white sands of Coconut Beach, while the accommodation itself is privately perched within the wild surrounds of the rainforest. “The exquisite Daintree flora and fauna surrounds each room to create a natural ambience,” Michelle says.

A choice for those wishing to simply unwind and take in the surroundings is a treatment, or two or three, at the new beachside Ocean Spa.

The spa proudly features Australian-owned and manufactured beauty product organicspa, which combines medicinal levels of certified organic plant extracts with 100 per cent naturally derived ingredients, embodying the belief that “luxury can be provided through nature,” Michelle points out.

Try a clay wrap or body scrub, or enjoy the benefit of stone therapy or one of the more conventional spa treatments. For the more active, try bushwalking, horse riding, kayaking, snorkelling or jungle surfing.

Enjoy rainforest walks by day or by night, crocodile cruises, fishing, bird watching, or hop on board a four-wheel-drive tour.

Meals are served at the resort’s Cape Restaurant and Bar. Based on the design of an Indonesian long house, the restaurant gives diners views over the pool to the sands of Coconut Beach and is a fitting venue for a relaxed breakfast, a lazy lunch by the pool or a sunset cocktail before a tantalising dinner.

“Drawing on the best of local produce, the Cape Restaurant provides modern Australian cuisine with subtle South-East Asian influences,” Michelle says.
