Also on Sun­day are Car­ols at Yorkeys Knob in Old School Park, Yorkeys Com­mu­nity Cen­tre Park­lands, Wat­tle St. Bring fam­ily, friends, neigh­bours and a pic­nic. There will be bands, soloists, choirs and dancers, face paint­ing as well as food, cof­fee, ice-cream and more for pur­chase. There will even be a visit from Santa with good­ies for the kids. A do­na­tion tin will be passed around with pro­ceeds to Yorkeys Knob SES and oth­ers. This event is from 5-8.30pm. H ll Robyn Glade-Wright’s artis­tic prac­tice re­volves around con­cerns for the en­vi­ron­ment and the man­ner in which works of art serve to il­lu­mi­nate as­pects of lived ex­pe­ri­ences. Degra­da­tion of habi­tats, changes in land use, cli­mate and the loss of species due to ex­tinc­tion are re­cur­rent is­sues in Glade-Wright’s prac­tice. She is recog­nised for work­ing with found ob­jects and nat­u­ral ma­te­ri­als and re-con­tex­tu­al­is­ing them. The ex­hi­bi­tion of the 2015 Doug Mo­ran Na­tional Por­trait Prize win­ner and fi­nal­ists in­cludes por­traits by Del Kathryn Bar­ton (right), Wendy Sharpe, War­ren Cros­sett, Stew­art Mac­Far­lane, Lewis Miller and Cairns-based artist, An­drew Bon­neau. James Cook Univer­sity’s Cre­ative Arts and Me­dia stu­dents show­case their cre­ative tal­ents through this James Cook Univer­sity grad­u­ate ex­hi­bi­tion Vi­sion.
