Fashion was no object for the ladies this year in the Oceana Walk Arcade Fashionable Fillies Lunch.

The real stars of the show, however, were the dapper gentlemen as they showed off just how fashionable they can be at the Oceana Walk Arcade Fashions on the Field.

As a fellow fashionista, I love to see young men get the courage to dress up and set good examples of style by theming their cufflinks and other accessories such as buttonhole rose pins, belt, pocket square hankerchief and, of course, the hat.

Get all your accessories on point and it will create a complete stylish and hot look.

The fashions being called out on stage conflicting with the sound of hooves and excited cheers from punters trackside, is everything I love about the races.

Naming rights sponsor of the Fashionable Fillies Lunch and Fashions on the Field, Oceana Walk Arcade, left us feeling like VIP stars with a red carpet entry.

A highlight was the Cairns Jockey Club photo wall, where racegoers flocked to most of the day for those must-have raceday #selfies.

Alyson Wavish of Oceana Walk Arcade said it was fantastic to see the effort racegoers went to on the day, which she said showed how discerning locals were when it came to their shopping choices.

“We have positioned the arcade as the centre for unique, one-off, artisan fashion, giftware and associated food and services, so this chance to bring our shop local message to the Cairns Cup racing carnival attendees and showcase the very best fashion and accessories the arcade has to offer was just sensational,” she said.

“I think it was great to see how well Cairns really got behind the local designers and boutiques this year. Keep it local and you will be the real winner of the day, I say.”
