Durable, reliable 4WD equipment

AUSTRALIA’S largest manufacturer of four-wheeldrive accessories, ARB, specialises in durable, highquality equipment that is specifically designed to meet the vigorous demands of 4WD owners.

It all started back in 1975, when company founder Tony Brown took a trip in his Series 1 Land Rover through the top end of Australia.

In a time when there was little equipment available for such extensive expeditions, four-wheel-drivers relied on homemade and makeshift parts.

However, Tony found that the tough Australian conditions were incredibly punishing and after battling endless corrugated roads and extreme temperatures with damaged bull-bars and broken roof racks, an idea was born.

Returning to Melbourne, Tony turned his ideas into tangible outcomes and began working in the family garage to address some of the issues and product deficiencies he encountered up north.

Unknowingly at the time, Tony was about to answer the calls of thousands of Australian four-wheel-drivers with his newly-founded company, ARB – named for the initials of Anthony Ronald Brown.

With an export network that extends through more than 100 countries around the globe, the company has grown exponentially over the last 40 years, but it’s philosophy – quality, reliability and practicality above all else – has never changed.

At the helm of ARB Cairns is Lachlan Brosnan. He has been involved with the ARB products for well over a decade and says the business goes well beyond 4WD parts and accessories.

“At ARB Cairns we often say we are in the dreams and adventure business, because we see ourselves as people who are passionate about helping others achieve their dreams and adventures,” he says.

“ARB life, whether you’re a customer, a team member or a partner, is very rewarding.”

He says the team at ARB Cairns are “fun, down-to-earth people who are just as keen and eager for adventure as you are.”

Lachlan, also known as ‘The Chief’, lives and breathes adventure, whether it be fishing, four-wheel driving or camping. According to his staff, he not only provides a fun workplace, but great advice on where to get the coldest beer in town. Workshop manager Matthew, aka ‘Matty’, holds both building and automotive trades and his attention to detail is second to none. He can be trusted with any task, but none more important than his daily reviews of supermarket frozen meals.

Four-wheel-drive consultants Andrew (‘Dicko’), Dean (‘Deanooo’), Michael (‘Mikey’) and Clayton (‘The New Guy’ – soon to be ‘Clayto’) bring a wealth of experience and friendly customer service to the team. Between themselves they enjoy camping, fishing, mountain biking and, of course, four-wheel driving.

ARB’s administrative champion Ebony, or ‘Eb’ for short, is charged with the task of keeping the boys in line and often shows them up with her regular weekend adventures, which include fishing, camping and hiking.
