SECURITY and setting up for the future were the main reasons Queenslanders bought property, a survey has found. The independent online national survey by Mortgage Choice found 38 per cent of recent Queensland buyers said the primary reason for buying was to get a foothold in the property market and a further 27 per cent did so to “set myself/my family up fifinancially for the future”. A further 12 per cent bought property so they could move in with their partner/provide a home for their future husband/ wife. An oceanfront mansion is top of the wish list for nearly a third of the state’s property buyers. A comfortable rural retreat was their second preference followed by a cosy coastal hideaway, a comfortable suburban home on a quarter acre block and fifinally a city penthouse with great views.
