Positive outlook for 2015

CHRISTMAS is fast approaching and I would think everyone in the real estate industry is looking forward to the short break – most manage to take off between Christmas and the New Year. Our associated professions such as lawyers, accountants, building and pest firms will all be closed. It has been a good steady year with most real estate offices recording improved number of sales. Cairns is now one of the shining lights on the Queensland coast, as well as the southeast corner. Most cities in between that had good times during the mining boom but are finding their markets to be in a downturn, and investors must be concerned if they invested too much, thinking mineral prices and mining was to continue for years to come. Obviously Aquis was the catalyst to ignite our market and the delay doesn’t seem to have slowed our activity. Many other developments have come on board and even if Aquis was not to proceed, there would be enough going on to create a snowball effect for others to follow. I believe 2015 will see a steady incline on the property clock for Cairns. Greg Moule, principal, Cairns Property Office
