Regions in rise from big slump

The Weekend Post - Real Estate - - Real Estate - with Ron Bannah,

BUILDING approvals in Queensland’s resource-rich regions have spiked, indicating the market may have reached rock-bottom and is now experiencing a possible turnaround. The figures for March, released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, show the resource regions got the first good news since 2012, and Master Builders is hopeful the figures indicate the beginning of a turnaround in these regional economies, which have been lagging for three years. It wasn’t just good news for Mackay and Central Queensland, with Far North Queensland approvals also showing a healthy increase of 14 per cent during the past year, and a modest 3.2 per cent increase from last month. These strong approvals, coupled with continuing industry confidence, which has been bolstered by future projects like Aquis, the recently announced C3 Towers Project and the Nova 8 Project (scheduled to come online in the coming months), certainly tell a promising story for Cairns and the surrounding area. The future is looking positive and Master Builders and the building industry in general are looking forward to stable and improving conditions ahead. Ron Bannah, Master Builders’ FNQ regional manager
