Appreciate little wonders

THE Cairns property market is often guilty of placing too much of its focus on the “big projects” that are either proposed or underway.

I can understand that we can become fascinated by the bright lights of these developments but we must not be blinded by them.

This is evident by our fascination with “big is better” projects such as Aquis, C3 and Nova8, which have all received huge media attention over the past year.

I acknowledge that these developments could be a huge bonus for Cairns, but I believe we are ignoring the smaller, yet just as crucial projects that Cairns currently has underway.

Projects such as the The Village Edge – a small boutique project by Urban Properties has significant value for the Cairns market.

It is the first of its type for Cairns and construction is already underway.

This is a $20-million project consisting of 57 residential lots, including 56 new houses and a 3000sq m unit complex site all located close to our city hub.

This project has the added bonus of engaging local development and construction group Prime Constructions who will employ about 100 construction and affiliated workers while also sourcing 95 per cent of its goods and services from the local Cairns market. This project is due for completions around Christmas.

That’s right – a major development for Cairns that will be completed this year.

So focus on what is happening right now in Cairns. Look a bit deeper and you will discover multiple reasons to feel confident that Cairns is in a great position and worth investing in.
