Jo Sevilleno of Cairns Platinum Realty sold L21 Bilic Rd, Wongaling Beach, for $260,000. This property represented a unique opportunity to secure a prestige vacant block with beautiful panoramic views surrounded by rainforest. OAK Beach is a tightly held market and fewer than 10 properties in the sandy suburb are for sale.

It is one of the reasons a 4.85ha (12 acre) lot of land bordered by mountain ranges is going to auction next weekend.

Agent Tom Quaid said the idyllic lifestyle block at 4990 Captain Cook Highway already had a three-bedroom residence on a section of the cleared land.

“The property has plenty of potential for an incoming purchaser,” he said.

“It offers somewhat of a unique proposition given the size of the land, the location and, of course, the beautiful natural backdrop.

“While the previous owner had looked to construct a second, larger residence for themselves, the opportunity now stands for a new owner to create their own piece of paradise and take full advantage of the property.”

Oak Beach is about 45 minutes drive north of Cairns and 15 minutes from the celebrity haven of Port Douglas.

“For those lucky enough to call Oak Beach home – or at least a home away from home – properties are generally divided between designer homes on absolute beachfront and acreagestyle properties in the foothills,” Mr Quaid added.

The property is one of the few acreage lots on the beach side of the highway and is adjoined by crown land (owned by the State Government).

“Improved with a threebedroom, two-bathroom renovated homestead complete with wraparound balcony and detached work shed, there are literally acres of open space to suit a variety of passions, whether that be horses, fishing or your own simple enjoyment.”

Just seven houses in Oak Beach have sold in the past year, while the median age of homeowners in the suburb is 45.
