Stattmann’s going places
Basketball has taken Cairns prodigy Kody Stattmann (above) to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Spain. If he continues his upwards trajectory in the sport, the talented 16-year-old will be seeing a lot more of these cities. The St Augustine’s College student is already receiving interest from American colleges for his emerging basketball ability with Loyola Marymount University, Boise State University and Portland State University sniffing around.
His mother and aunt played for the Cairns Dolphins in the QBL back in the ’90s and his great aunt, Rayleen Decker (nee Lynch), was the first female Queenslander to make an Australian team
He’s the sixth member of Cairns Basketball to make an Australian team
He is the third member of the Taipans Academy to make an Australian team after Aron Baynes and Nate Jawai
