We’re on a holiday lookout
CAIRNS residents might appreciate lying on the beach close to home, but it’s often not what they want to do on holidays.
That was one of the findings from last year’s Cairns Travel Expo and Flight Centre’s national events leader Robyn Blacklock said she didn’t expect much would change this year.
She said the two most popular reasons people visited last year were to find good flight deals and to learn more about adventure travelling.
“People could assume that’s younger people, but now it’s definitely Baby Boomers as well,” Ms Blacklock said.
The third most common reason people went was to learn about cruises, followed by independent travel options and then small group tours.
The data also showed the people most likely to attend the expo were planning a trip within the following year.
The Travel Expo will be held tomorrow in halls B and C, Cairns Convention Centre, at the corner of Wharf and Sheridan streets.
Hundreds of travel agents, tour operators, airlines and other travel industry experts will be on hand, with major deals up for grabs as well as multiple presentations and a virtual reality experience.
