On our front page

Disgusted at your front cover ‘rotten killer’, gloating over revenge on a native creature.

Jane, Brinsmead

Is it really necessary to have a photo of the beast that killed my friend on the front page of the paper? Don’t you have any compassion for Warren’s friends and family, most of whom are not coping well after this tragedy.

Beth, Kanimbla

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Cairns Post notified Mr Hughes’ family before publishing the photos. It is because of the photos that rangers disposed of the crocodile appropriately.

On croc management

If culling is not done, eventually crocodiles will be seen out on the Reef which will devastate tourism. Those who remember back when you could swim basi- cally anwhere safely, that was when there was a culling program in place. Now our state politicians dont have the guts to reintroduce culling, hence we pay the price.

Nick, Brinsmead

Re: Maggie (CP, 24/3). You are showing your age or you didn’t get out much in the 70s, 80s and 90s. I would be more than happy to swim in our waterways again if a culling program was introduced.

Rod, Edge Hill

Nick Dalton (CP, 23/3) goes from toler- ance on crocodiles one day to killing them the next. No surprise to see Julian Tomlinson (CP, 23/3) playing politics with the same issue.

Realist, Cairns

I bet if there was a 3m crocodile or bigger in the Brisbane River or Gold Coast canals they would be shot on sight.

JR, Holloways Beach On London terror attacks

The killing of an unarmed policeman in London should be a clarion call for the British government to arm their police, not only to protect them, but others as well. Had this officer been armed, he would be alive now. The government has blood on its hands.

Werner, Yorkeys Knob

Not all Muslims are bad people. But most of the atrocities around the world committed against innocent people are by Muslims?

J, Edge Hill On other matters

Mike McGrath (CP, 23/3). After a cyclone you won’t have 4G when your battery goes flat if the electricity goes off. We didn’t have any for weeks after Larry.

Wendy, Innisfail

Re: dogs off leads at Goomboora Park. It’s not confusing at all. Read the clear and indisputable signs erected around the park. I did and council have never threatened me with a fine.

Cyril, Cairns

I agree with Council and their proposal for more parking in the city. Turning two narrow lanes into one large lane gives room to enter centre parks. Makes it safer for pedestrians as well. McLeod St works well with that configuration.

Ratepayer, Cairns

I hope that everyone who does not want Grafton St to be changed, rings or emails the Cairns Council and says no to the changes. If they don’t, Bob Manning will change it.

Bill, Brinsmead.
