AFL footy at its shining best

-

AFL fans and supporters, sport lovers, families, couples and individuals are urged to get along to the blockbuster game in Cairns this afternoon.

This is AFL footy at its best, the reigning champions Western Bulldogs versus our own sunshine state’s Gold Coast Suns.

We need to show them we appreciate the effort they have made to travel so far north.

The weather is destined to be almost perfect and warm.

The Cazalys Stadium is in tip top condition and all they need is a bumper crowd to show their support so top level AFL returns next year and beyond.

A full crowd and bright sunny skies will create a picture perfect postcard scene watched by hundreds of thousands of viewers in chilly southern regions, states and overseas.

They will see a vibrant sea of spectators and a glowing atmosphere and environment giving them an incentive to escape the winter for a tropical holiday.

The preview television commercials have been a tasty teaser and have highlighted our beautiful paradise.

Initial ticket sales of about 8000 late yesterday bodes well for at least 10,000 spectators.

But let’s do better than that and aim for 15,000 which the ground can handle.

There can be no other better afternoon than packing up the family and heading to Cazalys for an AFL game at the highest level.

The Cairns Show is over so today is AFL day and this is a once-in-a year event which showcases the game as well as our great facilities and destination.

May the best team win. Nick Dalton nick.dalton@news.com.au
