“I un­der­stand eco­log­i­cally they have to let that flow go,” Ms Davis said.

“You just won­der about the vol­ume of it at this time of year,” Ms Davis said.

Cairns and District Ski Club pres­i­dent Si­mon Green­wood said the dam was be­ing man­aged as well as pos­si­ble.

“What we don’t like to see is be­ing too risk ad­verse ... then you have these con­di­tions to meet your en­vi­ron­men­tal flows,” he said.

“All of the sud­den you are look­ing at 23 per cent, your farm­ers aren’t get­ting any wa­ter al­lo­ca­tions and busi­nesses aren’t get­ting in­come from the tourism be­cause we aren’t up there wa­ter ski­ing.”
