Midwifery course ideal for nurses
REGISTERED nurses are invited to find out more about CQUniversity’s midwifery course at the Cairns campus’ open day today.
Midwifery lecturer Josephine Brookfield, a new facilitator based in Cairns to support students, says up to 10 student midwifery clinical places have been secured at Cairns Hospital and other hospitals in the Cairns Health District for the 2018 intake of the Bachelor of Midwifery (graduate entry) program.
Prospective midwifery students will be able to apply for the clinical places providing experience in all areas of midwifery, including Antenatal, Post-natal, Labour Ward, Indigenous Maternity Services, Women’s Health, and Continuity Models of Midwifery Care: Midwifery Group Practice.
“This new 18-month program is fast-tracked and offers successful applicants the ability to work and study at the same time,” Ms Brookfield said.
Ms Brookfield will be at the CQUni Cairns Open Day Nursing and Midwifery Booth from 9am- 1pm. The campus is at the corner of Abbott and Shields streets.
