Mid­wifery course ideal for nurses

REG­IS­TERED nurses are in­vited to find out more about CQUniver­sity’s mid­wifery course at the Cairns cam­pus’ open day today.

Mid­wifery lec­turer Josephine Brook­field, a new fa­cil­i­ta­tor based in Cairns to sup­port stu­dents, says up to 10 stu­dent mid­wifery clin­i­cal places have been se­cured at Cairns Hospi­tal and other hos­pi­tals in the Cairns Health District for the 2018 in­take of the Bach­e­lor of Mid­wifery (grad­u­ate en­try) pro­gram.

Prospec­tive mid­wifery stu­dents will be able to ap­ply for the clin­i­cal places pro­vid­ing ex­pe­ri­ence in all ar­eas of mid­wifery, in­clud­ing An­te­na­tal, Post-natal, Labour Ward, Indige­nous Ma­ter­nity Ser­vices, Women’s Health, and Con­ti­nu­ity Mod­els of Mid­wifery Care: Mid­wifery Group Prac­tice.

“This new 18-month pro­gram is fast-tracked and of­fers suc­cess­ful ap­pli­cants the abil­ity to work and study at the same time,” Ms Brook­field said.

Ms Brook­field will be at the CQUni Cairns Open Day Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Booth from 9am- 1pm. The cam­pus is at the cor­ner of Ab­bott and Shields streets.
